Record Store Day - Saturday April 17, 2010!

Saturday April 17, 2010 marks the third annual Record Store Day and Darkstar Records will be celebrating with a 50% off vintage vinyl sale all day long. We plan to set up extra tables in our outside courtyard in order to put out more merchandise for the day (weather permitting). Darkstar Open X-Mas Day

Continuing in our tradition of staying open on holidays, Darkstar Records and Books is happy to announce that we will be open regular hours on X-Mas Day (9 am - 6 pm). We're also pleased to let our Wookie customers know that we will be open regular hours on Life Day.

Darkstar Records Birthday Jam On Sunday, June 14th!

Coming Sunday, June 14th beginning at 12 noon, Darkstar Records will holding it's much delayed grand opening party which we are now calling the "Darkstar Records Birthday Jam".
The "Birthday Jam" is set to feature live music from many of Bakersfield's great local artists as well as free refreshments. Darkstar will also be holding a 50% off vintage vinyl and CD sale that day to coincide with the jam. Darkstar's Birthday Jam will last from 12 noon 'til who knows.

Everyone's welcome so please stop by! And if you've never visited our store, this will be a great introduction for you.

Darkstar Records and Books is located at 1024 Truxtun Ave. inside "the cottages" across from Rabobank Arena. Hope to see everyone there! =)

Record Store Day On Saturday, April 18th!

Saturday, April 18th will mark the second annual Record Store Day. It will also be Darkstar's first time particpating since we completely unaware of it last year. Hah! Hey, we opened on April 6th and it was held on the 19th. Give us a break. Anyway, in celebration, we will be having a 50% vintage vinyl and CD sale (for you CD people who were left out in the cold on our anniversary sale). One-Year Anniversary Sale On Monday, April 6th!

We're pleased to announce that Monday April 6th, 2009 will mark one year since Darkstar first opened it's doors on the day that Jimmy Eat World and Paramore played across the street at the Rabobank. And one FULL year at that. Darkstar Records is open 365 days a year. We keep the doors open every holiday, even Thanksgiving and Christmas (and yes, we're happy to say that we have customers on those days). We're quite proud of our perfect record, especially considering Bakersfield's hang nail mentality.

"It's Columbus Day, Jim. We can't beam down there. Bakersfield is shut down tighter than an Aldebaran Shellmoth!"

To celebrate the day we will be having a 50% sale on all vintage vinyl. Our first (in store, anyway) sale EVER! It would be nice to have more going on that day (live music, food, drinks) but we have to save all of that for our grand opening which will be happening quite soon. Rest assured, we'll keep you updated on that.
